Outdoor Kit = plain tracksuit bottoms and warm jacket and shoes suitable for all weathers (trainers)

Homework
Homework Menu
As part of our wider curriculum topic, children can also choose to complete homework from our homework menu (see below). This is optional, however, it will be enjoyable for the children and it will allow them to take their learning further and share it with you at home. Once any tasks have been completed please bring them into school and we will do our best to display as many of them as possible.
We would love to see how creative you can be and display your hard work for all to see.
Times Tables
It is still important to ensure that children in Y5 are secure and fluent with their times tables facts as they are needed in many aspects of the Y5 maths curriculum. Without the quick recall of these facts, maths learning becomes much more challenging as children need to work hard to recall the times table fact they need as well as work through new methods.
Below is a grid of the core multiplication facts we would like children to learn with quick recall and fluency. Once children know these facts, they can use them to work out any other facts (eg: knowing 2x and 10x tables means they can calculate 12x)
Please continue to support your child with learning these facts and encouraging them to play on Times Table Rock Stars also: https://ttrockstars.com/
Reading and Spelling
Reading is an essential part of the curriculum and opens up many other curriculum areas for the children. We expect children to read at least three times a week. Some children may choose to read independently, which is completely fine, but it is also helpful for adults to check children understand the vocabulary within the text and understand the content of what they are reading.
If you are struggling to find a new book, check out the Reading for Pleasure section on the website here
One thing that you could do at home to improve your English skills is to try to learn how to read and spell as many of these words as possible. These are the words you have to know by the end of Year 6.
USEFUL WEBSITES:
This is a fun and competitive way for your child to learn their times tables. Look out for new competitions and challenges! All children will have their log ins given to them before the end of the first week back, just in case any have been lost!
Times Tables Songs
These songs are really catchy tunes that may help your child master their times tables if they are finding them difficult to remember.
